Being the best athlete at your school might get you D1—being the toughest street fighter in your whole city won’t even make you amateur level. Combat sports don’t care how big or tough you are. They break you down.

1% of high school players on average get to play for a Division 1 college team. An even smaller percentage than that for teams like KU, Duke, Kentucky etc. Of those players from those blue blood teams maybe a few will go pro. Maybe a few. Take KU 2022 team

Starting on your high school football, basketball, or baseball team is a feat in itself.
You guys are assuming and comparing athleticism to combat. I guarantee the majority of NBA and NFL players will not step into a ring.
True, plus anything can happen in fighting.. so way more of a chance for anyone to win in fighting, rather than other sports for sure.. not to mention the time/durations of each game and sport.. in fighting, all you need is that one shot or submission, and that's it.. in other sports, you are stuck and must finish out the whole game, regardless of the score, etc..

Idk, I went to a low tier and I mean LOW tier division private Christian school in Tennessee with a graduating class of 36 and one of the people that we played with is starting SG for the hornets and the other whom we played against is starting PG for the Cavs… might be biased but 🤷🏼♂️
