Even if Arsenal had the best striker, the best midfielder, and the best winger in the world, we still wouldn’t win anything—not even the League Cup. You know why? Because the way we play is simply too slow. Our transitions are sluggish, and we rely too heavily on the right flank. There’s no play through the middle, and our overuse of crosses makes us too predictable. Trust me—until we start playing more direct football, nothing will change.
I’m an Arsenal fan, and I believe we have the quality to win the league even without new signings. The problem isn't the players—it’s Arteta. His system is too slow and rigid. Just look at Max Dowman—he’ll be wasted under Arteta. We should be using a double pivot in midfield, but he insists on a single pivot, which leaves us exposed. We concede soft goals and struggle to recover because once the opponent scores, they sit back in a low block, and we respond with endless sideways passing, no urgency, and no creativity. Again—not a player issue, but a tactical one.
Take Gyökeres, for example. He might only score 10 goals—not because he lacks talent, but because the manager doesn’t know how to use him properly. I know the season hasn’t started yet, but preseason already shows the same problems. Arteta won’t change. There’s no Plan B. He’s obsessed with possession and GA metrics.
Ødegaard should be playing centrally, not on the right. How is he supposed to assist the striker from out wide? That’s why the left side of our attack often looks chaotic—because our playmaker is isolated on the right. Everyone praises Saka—and rightly so—but he benefits from Ødegaard’s support. Meanwhile, Martinelli gets no help on the left, then people criticize him for being ineffective. Of course he’ll struggle.
If Ødegaard continues to play out wide, Arsenal will collapse. We should aim for 4th place at best this season. Berta has done his part—now it’s the manager holding us back.

Lee is completely right, the football is dead, it has been for the last two seasons and watching us play the same way does not give me excitement for the upcoming season. It is predictable, boring and will prove ineffective with Liverpool and Chelsea playing good attacking football that will breach our defense. if we cannot score because we are too predictable then we will not win the title. Arteta has to change something.
