I thought of something that might help, sometimes I feel they just aren't in the right places like there are things they can do to open up the opposing team and create gaps like dropping then getting an overload, and its possible that the boys just don't have enough experience to know that so maybe try getting drone footage or a top down view then find a few real matches with a top down view and show the boys the movement and positioning and how the pro teams create gaps, and overlay that with the boys matches showing them where they are and what they are doing compared to pro's, it might be boring but it feels like it would help majorly, then maybe play some training matches where you set markers on the ground or set drills to train those gap creating skill and overloads.
and maybe watch some 4-4-2 videos or football tactic videos and try to get the overload and create gaps, because those tactics are being used by pro's in the Prem and their opponents in the Prem aren't nobodies every team there is a team with people good enough to play there, but despite that and in other leagues as well these tactics and overloads create situations where there is nothing the other pro team can do no matter the quality no defender can take 3 on 1 or a good 2 on 1 situation.
